Healthy Treats: Homemade Muesli Bars

These delicious muesli bars are nut free, gluten free, dairy free and super easy to make at home! Our muesli bar recipe is packed with essential micronutrients and has become a favourite among the children at DMW. Please note: Quantities have been adjusted to make 12 muesli bars.


These Homemade Muesli Bars are chewy, sweet and full of nutrient-dense ingredients!

What You'll Need:

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup pepitas

  • 2 tablespoons sunflower seeds

  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds

  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut

  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


How to Make Them:

  1. Preheat oven to 160C.

  2. Line tray with baking paper and set aside.

  3. Mix oats, pepitas, sunflower seeds, chia seeds and coconut in a bowl and set aside.

  4. On stove top or in microwave, add coconut oil, honey and vanilla and bring to the boil, then remove from the heat.

  5. Combine both mixtures and mix until well combined.

  6. Press firmly into a 20cm x 20cm tin.

  7. Pop the bars into pre-heated oven and bake for approx. 15 minutes or until starting to turn golden brown.

  8. Remove from oven and allow to cool COMPLETELY on tray before moving them. This allows them to set.

  9. Cut up into bars and then store in an airtight container.


Customising the Recipe


Our Homemade Muesli Bars are dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan. The great thing about this recipe is that it can be customised to suit your family's individual likes and dietary requirements!


For a twist, try adding dried fruit or choc chips for an extra flavour hit.
