    More Than Just Mealtimes

Sharing a meal together goes far beyond what's on the plate. When your child is part of the DMW community, mealtimes become an opportunity to slow down, connect with friends, explore new flavours and grow in confidence and independence.

Our onsite chefs freshly prepare breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack each day. Guided by the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the principles of Munch & Move, our seasonal menus are thoughtfully created to nourish growing bodies, accommodate individual dietary requirements and help children build a positive relationship with food.

Through relaxed, social mealtimes, children are encouraged to listen to their bodies, make choices, serve themselves where appropriate and experience the joy of sharing food with others. Freshly prepared, thoughtfully planned and one less thing for busy families to pack each morning.

Meal Times at Discover My World

Mealtimes are a valued part of our day: a chance for conversation, social skills and growing independence around the table.

    Onsite Kitchen Cooks

Delicious meals prepared fresh daily with seasonal produce. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack.

    4-Week Rotating Menus

Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer menus rotate on a 4-week cycle to give every child diverse flavors and textures.

    Nurturing Independence

Children learn self-help skills: serving themselves, scraping plates, disposing of leftovers responsibly, and practicing good hygiene.

    Educator Role-Modeling

Educators sit alongside children during meals, conversing about food and fostering a relaxed, social experience.

    Infant Meal Introduction

When starting solids, babies begin with small amounts of iron-rich rice cereal mixed with breastmilk or formula. Our educators work closely with parents to develop an individual plan, starting with fresh fruit and vegetable purees, progressing to lumpier meals.

We introduce soft finger foods (cucumber sticks, apple slices, peeled and parboiled pear and zucchini) to encourage chewing, support jaw and speech development, soothe teething gums, and foster independence.

    Allergies & Dietary Requirements

Discover My World ELC is strictly egg and nut free. Outside food is prohibited in the service (except fresh fruit/vegetables) to protect all children.

Children with dietary requirements, food intolerances, or religious preferences receive personalized meal plans, including lactose-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian options.

    Healthy Beverages Policy

Fresh water is available throughout the day and served at every meal time. Full-cream milk is offered to children aged 18 months to 6 years at morning and afternoon tea times for calcium.

We strictly do not serve or allow juice, cordial, soft drinks, or flavored milks within the centre.
