Learning Through Play

At DMW, play is at the heart of everything we do. Through play, children explore literacy, numeracy, science, and so much more. Whether they are building towers, engaging in imaginative role play, or creating stories with friends, play provides the foundation for rich learning experiences.

We use Reading Eggs as part of our literacy program, helping children build early reading skills in an engaging, interactive way. This, alongside hands-on numeracy activities, gives children the building blocks they need for success in school and beyond.

STEM and Inquiry-Based Learning

Our children are curious by nature – and we believe curiosity should be celebrated! Our STEM classes encourage children to investigate, problem-solve, and explore the world around them. By asking “what if” and “why,” they learn to think like scientists, engineers, and mathematicians.

We also use provocations – carefully designed learning invitations that spark curiosity and inspire children to question, experiment, and discover their own answers. This type of inquiry learning fosters persistence, resilience, and creativity.

Tailored Table-Top Learning

Every child is unique, and at DMW we celebrate that. Our table-top learning experiences are tailored to meet both the individual needs of each child and the group as a whole. Whether it’s fine motor practice, pattern recognition, or collaborative problem-solving, children are supported and extended in ways that are just right for them.

Social & Emotional Development

We know that school readiness isn’t just about ABCs and 123s – it’s also about confidence, resilience, and relationships. That’s why we place such a strong focus on social and emotional development.

We encourage a sense of agency and belonging, helping children feel secure, valued, and confident to separate from their loved ones with ease. “Schoolers Month” – Building Confidence for Big School

As part of our transition to school program, DMW hosts a special Schoolers Month, filled with fun, practical experiences that prepare children for the routines and expectations of primary school.

Highlights include:

• Uniform Week – children proudly wear their new “big school” uniforms.

• Lunch Box Week – practicing opening containers and managing lunchboxes independently.

• Crunch & Sip® – learning about healthy snacking routines.

• Off-Site Excursions – developing confidence and independence in new environments.

These experiences help bridge the gap between preschool and primary school, giving both children and families a sense of confidence and excitement about the journey ahead.
